In-Character Information
Name:
Hamano Kaiji
Series: Inazuma Eleven GO
Canon-Point: Pre-Genei match
History: Over here!
Personality: Hamano's a guy that's pretty easy to please. He's laid-back and he enjoys the simple pleasures in life. Soccer, fishing, and hanging out with his best friend are pretty much all he needs to be happy. Hamano's not exactly the brightest bulb in the box, but he's not one to let stuff like that get him down. One could say Hamano comes off as the oblivious, happy-go-lucky type. It's absolutely true. However, despite that, he does have his moments of wisdom and insight. Not that those come too often. Sometimes he can get curious and that can lead to really dumb decisions. Seriously, Hamano's the sort of guy who would touch the stove that's turned on to see if it's really hot. He's not really one for planning ahead or thinking about the consequences of his actions. It's what he has Hayami for.

He's not really one to get mad at all. Though, when Hamano does get angry, he's a force to be reckoned with. From looking at him, you wouldn't think he's the sort who would even get sad, but that's not true. Hamano can get sad. He just prefers to hide it from everyone else. After all, he's the guy who keeps up the team's spirit! If he's sad, how can he make others happy? From his general demeanor, it wouldn't be inaccurate to call him a clown. It just wouldn't be very nice. Hamano takes insults and things in stride, but any insult to Hayami gets met with a fist to the face. It's one of the only, if not THE only, thing that could possibly make Hamano angry. At least he's fairly easy to calm down when he's angry.

Yeah, TL;DR: Clownish nice guy who isn't the brightest, but pretty scary when he gets angry.
Powers: In Inazuma Eleven, almost every character that can play soccer has access to hissatsu techniques. Hamano only has one particularly notable one: Naminori Piero. This technique allows him to conjure a small whirlpool around a soccer ball and surf past the opponent. In-game, the whirlpool Hamano conjures will be 20% the size of the one he normally does, and he won't be able to use it as a Surf replacement, as cool as that would be.
Starter Pokemon: Mudkip
Writing Samples
First-Person Sample:
[To be quite frank, Hamano looks a bit ridiculous right now. He's all but lying on his stomach, squinting at the Mudkip in front of him.] Okay, I know I've got to be dreaming. Or at least not in Inazuma Town anymore. [He reaches out and pokes the mud fish Pokémon, who squeaks in reaction. Slimy to the touch and almost indeed real.] And here I didn't think you little guys actually existed! This is pretty cool! My very own Mudkip… Ah, but I'll have to give you a name, huh…? How does Mizugorou sound, little guy?
Third-Person Sample: A little Frillish had washed up on shore. Naturally something like that caught Hamano's attention immediately and he ran over, scooping up the small jellyfish Pokémon in his arms. A dumb decision, given the poison? Probably. But the pink jellyfish was not only washed up, but wounded as well! He laid the Frillish across his lap before pulling out a potion and gently spraying it onto its wounds. It'd probably be a while before it woke up, huh… Maybe Hamano could take it to a Pokémon Center or something on the way to the next town or something. Even though… that'd be a while… Oh well, it wasn't like the jellyfish was much of a load! Cradling the Frillish, Hamano stood up and started walking back into town. Maybe he could afford a pit stop, just to make sure the Frillish was really okay. Now the question was… Where in the world was that Pokémon Center again?
